Hubby assigned the boys each a job to do while he is at work today. Youngest son is actually up at 8am when I get back from jogging and so I tell him to get moving on the job. His job is to rake some rocks. Of course he can’t fine the rake.
Hmmm….he was just raking up oranges yesterday, where could the rake have disappeared to? Turns out it didn’t go anywhere it’s still sitting by the orange tree and he goes and get the rake.
He was back inside in about 30 seconds…No, he isn’t a super rock raker. He managed to fish a baby bunny out of our pool with the rake. The bunny was lying on the prongs of the rake and it sure looked dead to me.
Of course, it’s not dead. Youngest son informs me that it is still alive and that he needs some towels so he can nurse it back to health. Immediately following the towel request is the inevitable Can I keep it?
Are you kidding me? In my mind it has already died. I’m already figuring out where to have the boys dig the hole to bury it (because of course we have to give all our deceased animals, no matter how short we have them, a proper burial.)
Well, with all the ruckus son two gets up and takes charge of the bunny. He has a plan which includes blow drying the bunny back to life.
Which actually works. The bunny is no longer a shivering, matted mess, but not a fluffy, cute, cuddly bunny. As son two tell youngest son to turn over the bunny so he can make sure he is blow drying him evenly the bunny has recovered enough from his ordeal and squirms out of his grasp and bolts for the safety of his bunny hole. Hopefully he has learned a valuable lesson to stay away from water!
Happy Memorial Day!
