Redwood National Park

From Crater Lake we made our way to Redwood State and National Park. There are four areas of Redwood. We drove through them all. We stayed at the Elk Prairie Campground, which was beautiful! There was a large meadow where elk are known to graze, but we didn’t end of seeing any elk.

Redwood, not only has forests, but beach/coastal areas. We hiked to Enderts Beach about 1 mile. It was a beautiful beach and beautiful hike!

Redwood also has the big trees! I also learned that Sequoia trees are from the redwood family. Sequoia trees are wider, but Redwoods are taller. We set up camp and were able to hike from the campground to the Big Tree! It was a beautiful hike as we hiked by a stream, across beautiful bridges and through some redwoods! The visitor center was right outside the campground. The visitor center was not open. There are lots of tails available from the visitor center and lots of people were hiking because there were lots of cars parked in the lot.

We also hiked the Lady Bird Johnson trail which was not far from the campground. The road was very steep to the parking lot. The parking lot was just about full when we got there. That trail was busy and well groomed. There was a dedicated area where Lady Bird Johnson stood. There were lots of big redwoods to look at and a nice trail.
