Oregon Caves National Monument

This was a windy, twisty and full of turns drive to the Caves and so worth it! Even though the caves aren’t open, a visit to this National Monument is well worth your time. The Caves were on the way from Crater Lake to Redwoods and is part of the Circle of 7 which is all the National Parks and Monuments in the area.

There is a beautiful chateau to greet you. We took a number of pictures of this. The weathered wood against the green trees and forest background is spectacular. The visitor center is open with friendly staff. Since we were not able to visit the cave we hiked around the monument and got to see the entrance and exit of the cave. Not quite the same, but it was the best we could do! The hike was wonderful we were treated with great views of the mountain and some good elevation gain. There are quite a few trails to hike since the caves are not open. This is a lovely place and definitely worth a visit!
